I’m Rikki Evans, owner of Alba Bagpipes and the current Guinness World Record holder for the longest marathon playing the bagpipes. I set the record with a time of 26 hours, 5 minutes and 32 seconds, and although the record has been challenged over the years, I’m proud to still remain the official holder more than a decade later.

Since late 2024, I’ve been blending Small pipes and Highland Bagpipes with high-quality backing tracks to create a distinctive, contemporary sound for weddings and events.

My repertoire ranges from Scottish classics like Highland Cathedral and Caledonia to timeless love songs such as Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Can’t Help Falling in Love. I can also energise any occasion with 90s hits like Saturday Night or rock anthems like Sweet Child O’ Mine.

While fusing bagpipes with backing tracks isn’t new, acts like the Red Hot Chilli Pipers have been doing it for over two decades, I offer a flexible, high-impact performance that’s perfect for weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations.

All my equipment is fully battery-powered, allowing me to perform indoors or outdoors with a professional PA system. I play three types of pipes: Small pipes, Highland Bagpipes, and Electronic Bagpipes. The electronic set allows precise pitch matching with backing tracks, and a wireless system sends the sound directly to the speakers while still looking like a traditional set of bagpipes.

Although I continue to perform traditional bagpipe music at weddings and events through Alba Bagpipes, I take bookings under Aberdeen Bagpiper when clients specifically request my bagpipes with backing track entertainment.
